Privacy Policy — License Generator
Effective date: 2026-10-15 Data controller: Gonzalo Martínez García Contact: privacy@gonzaloapps.es
Summary
License Generator is a desktop tool for software developers, and it works offline. It has no accounts, no analytics and no advertising, and it sends nothing to the developer. Everything it stores stays in its own data folder on your computer until you delete it, and nothing leaves that folder unless you copy or export it yourself.
What the application stores
The application keeps four kinds of files in its data folder:
- Signing keys. A separate RSA key pair for each product you create, in the
Keysfolder. The private keys are stored unencrypted, protected only by the permissions of your user account. - License history. One file for each license you issue, in the
Licensesfolder: the product identifier, the registration name, the optional hardware identifier, the optional expiration date, the optional UserDefined text and the signature. - Settings. Theme, text size, language and whether the startup greeting is shown, in
settings.json. - Diagnostic log. One text file per day, in the
Logsfolder, recording the operations and errors the application met, with their technical details. A log entry can contain file paths, which may include your account name. Log files older than seven days are deleted the next time the application starts.
The registration names and hardware identifiers you type usually belong to your own customers. The application stores them only so that you can find and copy a license again, and it sends them nowhere. You decide what to enter, and you are responsible for that information toward your customers.
The application does not read your hardware, your files or your clipboard on its own. It reads a file, such as a public key or a backup, only when you choose that file.
Where the data folder is
- Microsoft Store version: Windows keeps the folder in the application's private storage, at
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\gonzalo.dev.LicenseGenerator_091xbq64s670a\LocalCache\Local\LicenseGenerator. Uninstalling the application removes it. - Portable Windows version:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\LicenseGenerator. - Linux version: the
LicenseGeneratorfolder in your local data directory, usually~/.local/share/LicenseGenerator.
The portable versions leave their folder in place when you delete the program.
What the application does not do
- It makes no network request of its own and needs no connection to work.
- It does not create an account, collect usage data, or use analytics, telemetry, crash reporting or advertising.
- It does not send licenses, keys or customer details to the developer or to anyone else.
When information leaves the data folder
Only when you do it yourself:
- Copying. Copying a license or a public key places it on the system clipboard, where other applications you run can read it.
- Backups. Exporting writes a ZIP file to the location you choose, with your keys, license history and settings. It is not encrypted and it contains your private keys, so keep it as carefully as the keys themselves.
- Links. The documentation and Ko-fi buttons open their pages in your web browser. The application sends nothing with them; GitHub and Ko-fi handle your visit under their own privacy policies.
Installed from the Microsoft Store
The Microsoft Store installs and updates the application under Microsoft's own terms and privacy statement. License Generator sends nothing through the Store and receives nothing about you from it.
Children
License Generator is a tool for software developers and is not directed at children.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection over personal data a controller holds about you. The developer holds no such data unless you write to support, and over that correspondence you can exercise these rights at privacy@gonzaloapps.es.
You keep direct control of everything the application stores: delete products and licenses inside the application, export a backup at any time, or delete the data folder.
Retention
Your data stays on your computer until you delete it. Diagnostic log files are deleted after seven days. The application sends the developer nothing, so the developer retains nothing from it. A message you send to support is kept only while it is answered.
Changes
If a future version of License Generator processes data differently, this policy will be updated before that version is released and its effective date changed.
