# End User Licence Agreement — License Generator

This agreement governs use of the **application** License Generator, the
desktop tool that creates signing keys and issues signed licenses for your own
software. Where a store imposes its own end user terms, those apply in addition
to these; where they conflict, the store's terms prevail for installations
obtained through that store.

## 1. Licence granted

The Licensor grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to
install and use License Generator on devices you own or control, to create
signing keys and to issue, inspect and manage licenses for software applications
that you own or are authorised to license.

You may distribute the licenses and public keys you generate to your own
customers, as part of your commercial or free applications, and you may profit
from the sale of your applications that use them. You keep full ownership of
your applications and of the license data you generate.

The application is licensed, not sold. You acquire no ownership in it.

The licence is granted free of charge. It is perpetual, requires no renewal,
and carries no fees.

**Voluntary contributions.** The application offers a way to support the
project. Any contribution you choose to make is voluntary and does not change
this licence: it does not buy the application, a feature or any right, and it
grants no entitlement to support, updates or any other service.

## 2. Integration examples

The files `docs/examples/LicenseVerifier.cs` and `docs/examples/LicenseProtocol.cs`
published with the application's documentation may be used, copied, modified
and distributed, in source or compiled form, as part of your commercial or free
applications that verify licenses, provided the copyright notice at the top of
this agreement is kept with copies of them. This permission covers only those
two files. It grants no right to copy,
modify or distribute the application itself or any other source code, and it
prevails over section 3 for those two files.

## 3. Restrictions

You may not:

- copy, distribute, sublicense, rent, lease, lend, or sell the application, or
  make it available to others over a network; anyone who wants it obtains it
  from the Microsoft Store or the project's GitHub releases;
- reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the application, or attempt to
  derive its source code, except to the extent that applicable law expressly
  permits despite this restriction;
- modify the application, or create derivative works from it;
- remove, obscure, or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary
  notice.

Nothing in this clause limits rights granted to you by Article 6 of Directive
2009/24/EC on the legal protection of computer programs, or by the national law
implementing it, concerning interoperability.

## 4. Intellectual property

The application, its source code, design, branding, and name remain the
exclusive property of the Licensor and are protected by copyright and, where
registered, trademark law. This agreement transfers no intellectual property
rights. Third-party components included in the application remain subject to
their own licences, whose notices accompany the application.

## 5. Your keys, licenses and data

License Generator stores your signing keys, license history and settings on your
device and transmits nothing to the Licensor. See the **Privacy Policy**.

Private keys, history and backups are stored **without encryption**. You are
responsible for keeping them private and for your own backups. The Licensor
holds no copy of your keys or licenses and cannot recover them. If you lose a
private key, you cannot issue licenses that applications already distributed
with its public key will accept. If a private key leaks, anyone holding it can
issue licenses for those applications.

## 6. What offline licenses do not do

A license issued by License Generator is a signed statement that your
application verifies on the user's device without contacting a server. A
signature shows that the license was issued with your key and has not been
altered. It cannot stop a user who controls a device from modifying your
application or its clock, it cannot be revoked remotely, and hardware binding
and expiration are only as strong as the checks your application performs. How
well your software is protected depends on your own client implementation.

## 7. Availability, support, and updates

The Licensor intends to keep the application available, supported, and
updated. This statement of intent is not a contractual commitment. The Licensor
may release updates, change or remove features, or discontinue the application
at any time. No particular feature, update, level of support, or period of
availability is guaranteed, and no liability arises from the application, an
update, or support ceasing to be available.

## 8. Warranty

The application is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any
kind beyond what applicable law requires.

**Consumers in the European Union**: this clause does not affect your statutory
rights, including the conformity guarantee under Directive (EU) 2019/770 on
contracts for the supply of digital content and digital services, and, in Spain,
under the Real Decreto Legislativo 1/2007 (TRLGDCU). Those rights apply
regardless of anything stated here.

**Supply in a single act.** The application is supplied to you in a single act,
free of charge. In accordance with Article 120.1 of the
Real Decreto Legislativo 1/2007 (TRLGDCU), the Licensor is only responsible for
lack of conformity that existed at the moment of supply and appears within two
years, and does not contractually undertake to supply updates.

## 9. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Licensor is not liable
for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of
data, keys, revenue or profits, arising from use of the application, including
losses caused by the circumvention of licenses issued with it or by the loss or
disclosure of your private keys.

Nothing in this agreement excludes or limits liability for death or personal
injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for
any liability that applicable law does not allow to be excluded. Consumer rights
that cannot be waived are unaffected.

## 10. Termination

This licence ends automatically if you breach it, and you may end it at any time
by uninstalling the application. Licenses and public keys you distributed before
termination remain usable by your customers. Sections 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 11
survive termination.

## 11. Governing law

This agreement is governed by the laws of Spain. Consumers keep the protection
of the mandatory provisions of the law of their country of residence, and may
bring proceedings in the courts of that country.

## 12. Changes

The Licensor may amend this agreement. Material changes will be notified through
the store listing, the project's release notes or the application, and continued
use after they take effect constitutes acceptance. If you do not accept them,
stop using the application and uninstall it.
